“The Other Guys” suit les aventures des inspecteurs Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell), un comptable médico-légal qui est plus intéressé par la paperasserie que par le travail de terrain, et Terry Hoitz, un dur qui, après avoir commis une erreur, se coltine Allen comme partenaire. Allen et Terry idolâtrent les deux super flics de la ville, Danson et Highsmith, mais quand une occasion surgit pour eux de briller, les choses ne vont pas tout à fait se dérouler selon leurs plans.

Set in New York City, The Other Guys follows Detective Allen Gamble (Ferrell), a forensic accountant who’s more interested in paperwork than hitting the streets, and Detective Terry Hoitz (Wahlberg), who has been stuck with Allen as his partner ever since an embarrassing public incident with his quick trigger finger. Allen and Terry idolize the city’s top cops, Danson and Manzetti (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson), but when an opportunity arises for the Other Guys to step up, things don’t quite go as planned.

Huit ans après Crème glacée, chocolat et autres consolations, Julie Hivon revient au cinéma avec Tromper le silence, un film décrivant la rencontre entre une photographe et un bum imprévisible. La Presse a visité le plateau de tournage, hier. Portrait d’un drame psychologique dont les personnages portent le poids du passé.

Suzanne Clément a l’air à la fois fâchée et inquiète, alors que Pascale Montpetit est vêtue de façon austère, avec une broche qui orne son chandail rose. Puis, Maxime Dumontier fait son entrée, avec ses cheveux longs et sa chemise de chasse.

Cette scène se tournait dans un bungalow d’Anjou, hier matin, sur le plateau du film Tromper le silence. C’est le deuxième long métrage de la romancière, scénariste et réalisatrice Julie Hivon, huit ans après Crème glacée, chocolat et autres consolations.

Suzanne Clément interprète une photographe nommée Viviane. Depuis que son frère n’est plus dans sa vie par sa faute, elle a perdu sa source d’inspiration. Quand la femme rencontre Guillaume, mécanicien rebelle de 15 ans son cadet, elle retrouve en lui son frère, et, du coup, son élan créatif. Elle est fascinée par le jeune homme.

«Guillaume est un bum perturbé, à fleur de peau. Il fait des choses sur des coups de tête, indique Dumontier. Viviane et lui ont des passés qui ne sont pas réglés.»

Il n’y a rien d’amoureux entre les deux personnages. «Mais il y a beaucoup de tensions dans cette relation.»

Scène 43, plan quatre et prise trois. «J’aime mieux le début de l’autre, lance Julie Hivon à ses troupes. On va faire un pick-up.» Traduction: il ne faudra reprendre que la fin de la scène.

«C’est la première fois que Viviane vient chez moi, explique Dumontier pour décrire l’action de la scène. Elle découvre des secrets sur Guillaume.»

Pascale Montpetit joue la mère du jeune homme. «C’est une femme de peu de mots, explique l’actrice. Son fils a une vie parallèle dont elle ne sait pas grandchose et dont elle ne veut pas trop savoir.»

«Plus je lis et plus je vis le scénario, plus je le trouve intéressant, poursuit Suzanne Clément. On dit que c’est un drame psychologique, mais il y a aussi quelque chose de noir. C’est presque un polar.»

Suzanne Clément est heureuse d’incarner une artiste. «J’ai souvent voulu jouer une peintre, signale-t-elle. Être photographe, c’est à la fois une façon de s’approcher et de se cacher des autres, et de se rapprocher de soi-même. C’est très introspectif.»

Le regard de l’autre

La réalisatrice Julie Hivon avait envie de parler d’une rencontre déterminante qui peut changer une vie. «J’avais l’idée d’un personnage qui pose un regard sur l’autre et qui le révèle peu à peu. À la fois un regard de femme et un regard artistique.»

Nous sommes loin de Crème glacée, chocolat et autres consolations. «C’est un film un peu plus grave, mais ce n’est pas un film sombre «, répond la réalisatrice.

«C’est l’fun de jouer dans un film d’auteur, scénarisé et réalisé par la même personne», souligne Pascale Montpetit, qui joue présentement tous les soirs au TNM. Quand nous avons quitté le plateau de tournage, hier midi elle dormait sur le sofa… L’actrice prendra d’ailleurs une pause sous peu, car elle est en processus d’adoption.

De son côté, Suzanne Clément entamera le tournage de la quatrième saison de la série Les hauts et les bas de Sophie Paquin. Elle sera également au gala des Jutra, dimanche soir. Elle est en nomination pour sa performance dans C’est pas moi, je le jure!

Ce n’est pas le cas de son partenaire de jeu Maxime Dumontier. L’absence de Tout est parfait dans la catégorie du meilleur film a suscité la controverse. «De ne pas être finaliste, je m’en fous. Ça m’enlève le stress d’aller là-bas, commente Dumontier. Mais que le film ne soit pas en nomination, je trouve ça un peu plate. Au moins, Yves Christian (Fournier) et Guillaume (Vigneault) seront là (dans les catégories de la mei l leure réa lisation et du meilleur scénario).»

Quant à Julie Hivon, elle prépare un téléroman pour TVA, intitulé Soupers de famille, qui devrait occuper la case horaire laissée vacante par Annie et ses hommes.

Distribué par Séville, Tromper le silence sortira en 2010. Doté d’un budget de 1 million, il est produit par Hivon et le collectif Les films de l’autre. Il met également en vedette Sébastien Huberdeau, Sophie Cadieux, Claude Prégent, Thomas Lalonde et Benoît Gouin.

Dans une rue de banlieue, deux hommes masqués enlèvent une jeune femme. Une fois ligotée et bâillonnée, ils la conduisent dans un appartement abandonné et insonorisé. Il s’agit d’ Alice Creed, la fille d’un millionnaire. Ses ravisseurs, l’impassible Vic et son jeune complice Danny, ont minutieusement monté leur coup. Mais Alice ne va pas jouer la victime idéale — elle va se battre jusqu’au bout. Dans une épreuve de force où règnent cupidité, fourberie et survie, on découvre que, parfois les disparitions sont illusoires…

Two men fortify a nondescript British apartment so it can serve as a prison, and then kidnap a woman and tie her to a bed. Before there’s even time to react, we’re plunged into a very nasty situation, but not a simple one.

A war galley is caught in a storm at sea. The ship’s weatherworker is distressed to realize that he has lost the power to control the wind and waves, but is even more disturbed when he observes two dragons fighting above the clouds, one of which is eventually killed.

Shortly thereafter the King, already troubled by tales of drought and pestilence in the land, receives news both of the strange omen at sea and of the disappearance of his son, Prince Arren. The King’s wizard tells the tale of how dragons and men were once one, until dragons chose freedom, and men chose possessions, and of his fears of how the land’s plight is due to a weakening of the “balance”. The King has little time to ponder on this before he is set upon and killed in a dark corridor by a young lad, who turns out to be his son Arren. The prince steals his father’s sword and flees the palace.

The action now moves to a desert where Arren is pursued by wolves, and rescued by a wizard who turns out to be Sparrowhawk the Archmage. Arren accompanies Sparrowhawk and travels to the city of Hortown. Arren goes to explore the town alone, suddenly becoming scared as if something is following him. As Arren runs away, he sees a young girl, Therru, fleeing from slave hunters from whom he then saves her.

Later in the evening Arren is captured by the slave hunter but loses his sword as the hunter believes it to be worthless junk. Arren is rescued by Sparrowhawk from the slavers, and they travel to a farm where Therru is looked after by a woman, Tenar, whom Sparrowhawk knows.

The head slaver (“Hare”) reports back into a castle to Lord Cob, and almost pays with his life for the loss, until he tells Cob that Sparrowhawk freed the slaves. Lord Cob orders him to bring Sparrowhawk to the castle. Sparrowhawk at the farm reveals that he is investigating the cause of the Balance being upset and leaves for Hortown, in which he discovers the sword that Arren had is in a merchant shop. Sparrowhawk is then encountered by Hare, but he transforms his face to disguise himself. When the slave hunter leaves, he buys the sword.

Arren, at the retreat, reveals to Therru that he killed his father and that he is scared of the unknown presence following him. Later he leaves in secret. Tenar is captured by the slave hunter as a bait to lure Sparrowhawk into the castle and leaves Therru behind tied to a post as a messenger. Arren is again pursued by the unknown presence and runs away, falling into a lake. Lord Cob who sees this, saves him and brings him to the castle, where he manipulates him, saying that Sparrowhawk wants to use Arren to discover the secret of eternal life. Cob persuades Arren to reveal his true name, Lebannen, in order to control him. Sparrowhawk, on the way back to the farm, encounters Therru and gives her the sword, telling her to stay and give it to Arren if he returns. He goes to the castle to save Tenar but instead finds Arren, who tries to kill him, but fails. Sparrowhawk tells Arren that death is natural and that no one can live forever, before being captured as his power is weakened within the stronghold of Cob’s castle.

Therru sees a copy of Arren and follows him to the castle, where he reveals he is the light of Arren. He tells Therru his true name, and says that while he cannot go into the castle, he will be with her at all moments. Inside the castle, Therru finds Arren and says his true name, breaking Cob’s control over him. She also tells him her true name, Tehanu. Both go to rescue Sparrowhawk and Tenar from Lord Cob who is about to throw them off a high tower. The sword that Arren possesses unsheaths, revealing that this is due to its magical nature, and he cuts off Lord Cob’s hand, which flies away still holding his staff, rendering him unable to use magic. Cob becomes old due to the loss of the magic cast on himself. Cob captures Therru and flees to the highest tower on the castle, with Arren in hot pursuit. Cornered, Cob strangles Therru to death. However, she does not die, and instead becomes a dragon, thus killing Cob and rescuing Arren from the collapsing tower that Cob destroyed to prevent Arren advancing.

Therru and Arren land in a field, and Therru returns to human form. Arren says he will go back home to face his crime, but will come back to see Therru in the future
